FAQs
-
Poppleton Tithe Barn provides a unique and special venue for wedding breakfasts and post wedding photographs.
It is situated next to St. Everilda’s Church. The Sensory Garden is a beautiful space for photographs. However, prospective hirers need to be aware of the restrictions of use which limit the number of weddings we are able to book each year. The Tithe Barn is very close to residential property and has no sound insulation therefore no sound amplification at all is allowed and hirers are asked to respect the peaceful nature of the environment.
The barn is also suitable for your Wedding Reception - we do not hire the barn for the actual wedding ceremony.
The barn is a non-commercial venue managed by volunteers, ensuring that all hire fees go to the upkeep of the barn.
You would arrange your own catering and decorations within our guidelines and with the support of our volunteers.
-
Yes, the venue is fully accessible, with parking available right next to the venue and flat wheelchair access to the inside with the addition of a wheelchair accessible disabled toilet.

There are a number of parking spaces next to the church and at the road edge - parking there is limited and please respect residents’ parking.

We provide a venue that can cater for up to 90 people sitting in comfort around tables within the Barn.
A maximum of 100 to 120 people can be accommodated if the side benches are used.
-
Central heating is available as the Barn may feel cold in the winter months.
There are vents in the walls and the heating system has to create benign conditions due to the historic materials used in its construction.
A heating surcharge (currently £25 - £50) is recommended between 1st Oct to 31st March.
-
Use of the Tudor Sensory Garden
The garden is primarily a place for quiet enjoyment and reflection.
Hire of the Barn includes use of the garden but we kindly ask furniture should not removed from the Barn and set up in the garden, without prior agreement of the Booking Trustee.
Food and drink should be served from within the Barn. Guests are welcome to stroll around the garden and use the bench seating.
It is also a good place for celebratory photographs.
-
The barn is equipped with spot lighting to enhance the overall atmosphere.

We welcome all enquiries from potential Hirers. However, the Barn is situated close to residential housing and is not insulated for sound.
Noise travels easily through the fabric of the building and we need to respect our neighbours.
Consequently, we are committed to minimising local disturbance by carefully managing the frequency and volume of our events. In particular, the number of events with music are limited, and the details are set out in our Terms and Conditions.
All events with music must be have prior approval.
